its everywhere if you look

Due to circumstances both in and out of my control, I am eating, alone, in a McDonalds. I noticed this couple in their 50's, sitting across from me, first her than him. You can tell she was mighty tired, must have been a tough dinner rush. He walked by outside and she sprung up from her seat to wave to him.

She had a different light to her now. He stayed outside doing whatever it was he was doing: garbages, having a smoke, I'm not sure. I can tell he was working hard too. He sat with her, smiled, and took a sip of her drink. They began to talk.

I'm not sure that even if I was eavesdropping on the words, that I would have even understood them. I think it was chinese. The tone of their voices was unmistakable, she was worried. He stopped his fidgeting and paid 100% attention to her. He took her hand and spoke in an assuring voice.

Any married person would know that voice. She was worried, about what I don't know...money, how they were getting home, her parent is sick, where they were gonna sleep...but he took her hand and assured her. She seemed happier having his hand. They looked at each other and for all I know are gone for good.

it was beautiful, and touching, and all over my grilled chicken sandwich and halk diet coke half, root beer.
